WJLA: More Loudoun County parents ask school board to repeal bathroom policy

Ommair Butt urged members of his Muslim community – and members of the county's Hindu community – to show up at the Loudoun County School Board meeting this week to ask school board members to repeal policy 8040.
Policy 8040 allows students to use the school bathrooms and locker rooms of their choice, based on their gender identity. The policy was adopted in 2021 by the previous school board.
“I think it invades the privacy rights for a majority of the students,” said Butt. “A lot of the Muslim community was unaware that this is actually implemented. When the day came on Tuesday, a flood of people came and I saw people pouring into the meeting.”
